More Improvised Singing! (March 2026)

A course with Phil Lunn

In this eight-week course, we’ll be taking an in-depth look at performing improvised songs. We’ll cover:

• Finding the focus, or hook, of a song
• Starting songs and sectional verses
  
• Moving from scene to song
• Solos
• Performing songs as a group—sharing lyrics, harmonies and movement
• Song structures and rhyming patterns
• Singing in character

The course is aimed at people who have experience with improvised singing already, and who are confident and practised with improvised scenes. You don't have to have done my or Hoopla's courses in particular though.

• As stated above, this course is for people who already have an introductory understanding of musical improv, and also comfort with scene work and character work. Please don’t book if this isn't you; instead you’ll probably find my Hoopla course more enjoyable (or of course, classes run by others in London). If your experience is such that I don’t think this the course for you, then I will let you know and recommend other courses for you. Feel free to contact me in advance before booking.
• Refunds given for cancellations before 3 March; after that, sorry, refunds will only be given if the place can be resold.
• Payments won’t be held for use on future courses (this course isn’t regular enough for that to work well).
• If you miss more than two sessions, then you may not be able to do the show. It’s important that we all go on stage with a similar understanding of things.
