Want to see for yourself how Passive House offsite construction meets the city’s affordable and infill housing goals? The team behind the Norwell Street infill project in Dorchester—developed as part of the City’s Welcome Home Boston initiative—will show you how they pulled it off.
This in-person site tour will bring us inside one of the 12 units nearing completion of this innovative set of three small multifamily quadplexes targeting Passive House certification. Built on an abandoned lot in the Dorchester neighborhood, the project maximized City and State subsidy dollars to deliver high-quality, high-performance homeownership.
The team from Star Contracting Co and Hue Architecture will describe how they leveraged offsite panelization to streamline building envelopes and find construction efficiencies. They will cover their methods for optimizing building systems and how a creative approach created a scalable, cost-effective blueprint for other missing middle projects.
