Passive House certification is essential to ensuring that projects meet exacting standards. Put simply, if a project is not certified, then it's not Passive House. However, the certification process, especially for teams unfamiliar with it, can often seem cumbersome and unwieldy.
Tomás O'Leary is a Co-Founder of Mosart, an international firm delivering large-scale PHI certified projects across the EU and US. Drawing on two decades of hands-on experience, this presentation will map out a streamlined path to make the Passive House certification process as painless as possible.
The session will outline practical strategies for project teams to ensure the process runs smoothly—applicable across both PHI and Phius standards. It will also touch on the PHI “Classic” vs. “Low Energy Building” standards, equipping teams to bring projects through certification efficiently.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify critical bottlenecks to certification of multi-family Passive House projects
- Explore lessons learned from certification of projects which are close to the Passive House criteria thresholds
- Implement early design phase strategies that streamline Passive House certification for complex multifamily developments.
- Apply practical construction phase workflows that simplify site verification and ensure quality control for project teams.
- Select the optimal performance target for multifamily projects by Comparing PHI Classic and Low Energy Building standards
👉 Continuing Ed: 1 AIA HSW, 1 USGBC Self-Report. PHI pending approval.
