"Experience of a General Contractor Who Succeeded in Worcester"

F.W. Madigan Company, a Worcester-based general contractor, just completed the Worcester Boys Club project (now Residences at Lincoln Square). This project includes the renovation and conversion of a nearly 100 year old Worcester Boys Club (more recently the Worcester Vocational Technical School) as well as construction of a new 5-story multifamily building that is Phius Design Certified (final certification pending). Mike Dupuis, Project Executive and Logan Benoit, Site Superintendent for this project will share what it really took (in terms of dollars, pounds of flesh, years off their life, etc.) to build a passive building in Worcester.

"Early Optimization that Saves Cost and Hassle"

Having guided dozens of Passive House projects from early schematic design through final certification, Building Evolution Corporation's experience reveals that building enclosures are frequently over-designed in some areas, while, in others, critical performance gaps go unnoticed. Through a series of multifamily case studies, we will analyze the art of balancing over-designed assemblies with strategic performance upgrades. This presentation will demonstrate how identifying and optimizing these envelope details early in the design process simplifies construction, reduces onsite complexity, and ensures project viability, ultimately showing how proactive consulting reduces the developers pain and cost.
