Teen Photography Summer Camp 13 - 15 years with Darragh Shanahan
Teen Photography Summer Camp 13 - 15 years with Darragh Shanahan
Join artist Darragh Shanahan for a fun and creative week-long summer camp exploring the art of experimental photography and photo zine making. Perfect for teens aged 13–15 with an interest in photography, art, or visual storytelling.
Throughout the week, students will dive into both analog and digital photography techniques, producing images that will be transformed into their very own handmade photography zine.
As part of this workshop we have partnered up with Lomography, where each student will be able to test and experiment with the LomoApparat 35 mm camera and a roll of Lomography Lady Grey B&W film.
What Students Will Do:
Build and shoot with pinhole cameras
Try cameraless techniques like photograms
Develop film and print in the darkroom
Use DSLRs, smartphones, and digital editing tools
Explore photo collage, long exposure photography, photo sculpture
Experiment with light drawing, reflections, and shadow play
Introduction to digital printing and zine-making techniques
Inspired by the work of experimental photographer Carlotta Corpron, students will use light as both a subject and tool to create abstract, expressive photographic works. From light boxes to reflective surfaces, they’ll discover how simple materials and imaginative play can produce stunning visual results.
This camp is ideal for any teen interested in building a creative portfolio or exploring independent publishing through making zines.
This summer camp is a great opportunity to try out all that photography has to offer, meet other young artists, and create a collection of photographs.
All students attending the summer camp must have a consent form that has been completed and signed by their parent or guardian. Participation will not be possible without a completed form.
Students should bring a packed lunch.
