What connects us to the places we call home? And how can photography reveal the relationships, histories and traditions that shape a community?

Join internationally acclaimed photographer Jackie Nickerson at Photo Museum Ireland for a special artist talk and the launch of her new photobook, Ten Miles Round, published by Steidl.

Set within the close-knit farming community of County Louth, where Nickerson made her home, Ten Miles Round explores the complex relationship between people and place. Bringing together intimate portraits, landscapes and still lifes, her photographs find beauty in the imperfect realities of everyday life, revealing a community shaped by its heritage, resilience and changing environment.

In this artist talk, Nickerson will share insights into the making of the project, her approach to photographing people and communities, and the ideas that have shaped this deeply personal body of work.

Originally exhibited at Photo Museum Ireland (then the Gallery of Photography) in 2009, Ten Miles Round returns in a new publication from Steidl.

Join us to discover the stories behind the photographs, hear directly from the artist and gain a deeper understanding of how photography can capture our connection to people and place.

The talk will be followed by the book launch, with copies available to purchase. Pre-order Ten Miles Round here.
