House like a Nubian with Nubian Néné 

“House Like a Nubian” is a house dance class based on teaching the basic and foundational steps, providing a practice to improve one’s house dance technique, with a focus on freestyling, playing with variations, repeating, applying the body mechanics, and physicality. The format allows for sharing music, and stories of this Black underground club culture. This is an all-level class, no choreography will be taught, and come prepared to work, sweat, and house dance.

Nubian Néné is a New York-based dancer/choreographer who finds inspiration in weaving street/club dances she’s practiced for 20 years. Her resilience and hard work stem from her Haitian roots, enabling her to expand into a producer, a creative director, a curator, a visual artist, and a teacher, making her an asset and reliable to any project. She is a member of Montreal-based and multidisciplinary collective: FRGMNT, and internationally known Nefer Global Movement. Black culture, cultural awareness, community engagement, and event production drive Nubian Nene. She's the creator of Waack Bazaar, The Essence Experience, and A Lady in The House Company.

Passion Fruit is a street/club dance and educational company, founded in 2016 by Tatiana Desardouin, (Choreographer/Art.director). Through educational programs and dance works, the mission is to: promote street/clubbing dance styles and cultures; highlight its black heritage ; explore and address social issues; inspire young artists to share their voices. They performed in USA “Dance Within Your Dance” and “Trapped” in theaters such as BAAD!Theater, Summerstage, Jacob's Pillow, the New Victory, LOHH festival, 92NY, MASS MoCA, Dance Place, the Guggenheim, BRIC!,ADF and abroad.
