Welcome to Dancing on Canvas at PhysFest: NYC’s First Physical Theater Festival-Dance Party

Your Host: Akil Apollo Davis, the MC of some of NYC’s best dance events and Master Mask Teacher, as well as a member of the Artistic Leadership Circle, PhysFest performer, panelist and teacher! 

Dance the Night Away - Here’s What to Expect:

9:30 PM - 10:00 PM: Warm-Up and Mingle

• Mingle with fellow theater enthusiasts.

• Get into the groove with our opening dance playlist.

10:00 PM Onwards: The Canvas Unfolds

• Every 15 or 30 minutes, the floor transforms into your canvas.

• Showcase your dance interpretation of pre-selected songs.

Your Song, Your Stage!

• Submit Your Song Request:

Send us your favorite tune (DM Akil @theremustbemorelight and secure a slot.

• Choose Your Performance Style:

Solo? Duo? Or an Open Canvas?

• Solo/Duo: A spotlight moment for you or with a partner.

• Open Canvas: Invite others to join and create a collective dance piece.

• Clear the Floor: When your song plays, the floor is yours!

Add a Twist with Akil’s Masks

• Experiment with different masks to explore transformation while you dance.

*You MUST arrive by 10pm EXPLANATION if you want engage with the Masks*** no execptions
