Description: In this session we will discuss my research which has covered evidence based practice in Hypermobility spectrum disorder and EDS. We will discuss clinical symptoms, screening, diagnostic tools and evidence based practice.
I am also conducting a qualitative study into the lived experiences of patients with HSD/EDS in getting a diagnosis and treatment. Understanding a patients journey and the potential failures of the healthcare system to identify these conditions will allow health care professionals to improve on our screening and care for these patients.
Current evidence suggests 6-7 year delay to diagnosis in HSD/hEDS leaving patients frustrated, in pain, worsening mental health and bumbling around in circles seeing multiple specialists to try and get answers for a constellation of symptoms which could have been spotted and diagnosed sooner.
Come and joint me to discuss and learn about HSD and EDS to improve your practice and the care we can provide for these patients.
