PPA AGM and Dr Pete Gladwell Memorial Talk
The PPA warmly welcome you to attend the AGM and Dr Pete Gladwell Memorial Talk.
Pete Gladwell Memorial Talk - 6.30pm / PPA AGM - 7.30pm
Melanie Berry and Heather Muncey will give an address remembering our dear friend and colleague Dr Pete Gladwell
This will be followed by a talk from Dr Jackie Walumbe. DPhil (Primary Care), MSc (Global Public Health and Policy), MSc (Pain), BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy and Past Co Chair PPA
Title: Little pockets of Pain care: How can we navigate shifting landscapes
In this commemorative talk, Jackie will begin by mapping the recent landscape of contemporary pain care as it relates to a changing social, political, practice shift. She will draw on narratives of community and networks that have informed our delivery of biopsychosocial pain care. She will conclude with proposals for future directions in how the PPA can deliver in this context.
Jackie Bio:
Jackie is a clinical academic (postdoctoral) physiotherapist at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Jackie works with multidisciplinary teams and is involved in the management of complex pain in an integrated system across specialities as well as primary, community, secondary and tertiary care. Focussing on broadly critical perspectives and applied qualitative methodologies, she is building a research programme exploring different models of pain care, ethics, health inequities and epistemic practices.
Jackie is currently a knowledge mobilisation fellow funded by the NIHR where her work involves developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to embed evidence for chronic pain into multi-professional practice using participatory approaches. She hopes this will inform a practical case study of practice as an evidence-making intervention in health.
