"Can you 3D Print Buildings?"
With Renee Dobre
Summary
Have you ever looked at a viral video of a concrete robot and wondered… can you actually 3D print a building? Well (spoiler alert), you can! From the hype of 3D-printed homes to NASA’s theoretical habitats on Mars, the internet has become obsessed with the idea of printing our future cities. But how do we get from a sci-fi rendering on the Red Planet to an actual form IRL?
Enter Renee Dobre, NBBJ’s Firmwide Computation Team Lead. A licensed Architect originally from the states and now based in London, Renee holds a unique hybrid role: she splits her time between high-level digital strategy and the gritty reality of active project delivery.
Acting as a conduit for international knowledge transfer, she uses real-world projects as a testing ground to validate computational theory. In this session, Renee will cut through the buzzwords to show how the industry is pioneering new workflows that bridge the gap between futuristic dreaming and practical application. Grab a pint and let’s see if we’re ready to print the skyline.
