"How to Find an Alien: The Real Science Behind the Search for Extraterrestrial Life"
With Cheyenne Polius

Summary
Are we alone in the universe? It’s one of humanity’s oldest questions and everyday, scientists are learning more about the possibility of life elsewhere.

In this talk, astrophysicist Cheyenne Polius explores how scientists are actually searching for life beyond Earth. What do astronomers really mean when they talk about “habitable planets”? How do we detect signs of life across light-years of space? And what are the most promising places in our own Solar System where life might exist right now?

This talk offers an exciting introduction to astrobiology as we explore one of the biggest scientific quests of our time and what might exist even just beyond our own planet.

Her academic research focused on the evolution of stars and planetary systems and how the early conditions of the solar system may influence the potential for life.

Alongside her research career, Cheyenne has spent over a decade communicating science to public audiences, at schools and at international conferences. She is also the founder of LUNAA Journeys, an organisation dedicated to advancing astro-tourism and astronomy education in the UK and the Caribbean.
