Learn why Guinness was so late to the game when it came to advertising, and how they were at times ahead, behind, or simply a product of their time when it came to portrayals of gender and sexuality in their iconic ads. Bio:
Charo Havermans is a Public Historian specialising in the hidden politics of everyday life. She focuses on public houses and public toilets, with an emphasis on the role of marginalised communities.
As 'The PUBlic Historian,’ Charo designs and delivers historic (pub/loo) tours and talks in London and beyond. She leads the project to co-create the worlds’ first Pub Museum.
Charo has designed tours for Open City Festival, Culture Croydon and Hackney History Festival. She has appeared on BBC Breakfast, BBC Radio London, in the Daily Mail, the LA Times and more.

What if I don't drink alcohol?
No problem at all! Pints of Knowledge is all about the ideas and the community, not the drinks. You’re welcome to enjoy a soft drink, coffee, or whatever you prefer. The focus is on creating a relaxed, social atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable
Can I attend without a ticket?
Tickets must be purchased online prior to the event. With our limited capacity at each venue we can't let people in without a ticket.
