''The Sick Sense: Colour, health, and hospitals'' with Victoria Bates
Summary
What is the colour of health? Can a particular colour make you feel better? In this talk, Professor Victoria Bates from the University of Bristol will explore the history of colour in British hospitals. She will outline changing ideas about colour and health over the course of the twentieth century, from white to bright. She will also show that colour is a multi-sensory and emotional experience, which goes beyond the colour of paint on walls. If you've ever wondered why there are so many green trees in hospital art, or why there is so much white on hospital walls, come along to find out.
