Dr Dominic Hinde is Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Sociology at the University of Glasgow and an award-nominated writer on climate change and society with over a decade of experience working on the narratives of climate change as both an academic and journalist. Drawing on his own work in oil fields, climate disaster zones, UN summits and much else, he is here to tell you not only why much of what you think you know about climate change is wrong, and what the real story needed to save the planet is. 

Bio

Dominic Hinde is a sociologist and writer based at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. Trained as a linguist and translator, he became an international journalist and foreign correspondent working across Northern Europe and around the world on issues of climate and global change, most notably in Sweden. In 2026 his latest book Drifting North was nominated for both the Highland Book Prize and Wainwright Prize for Conservation Writing.

What if I don't drink alcohol?

No problem at all! Pints of Knowledge is all about the ideas and the community, not the drinks. You’re welcome to enjoy a soft drink, coffee, or whatever you prefer. The focus is on creating a relaxed, social atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable

Can I attend without a ticket?

Tickets must be purchased online prior to the event. With our limited capacity at each venue we can't let people in without a ticket.

Is there food available?

Yes, there is always the option to purchase food at our events.

Can I get my ticket refunded?

We issue full ticket refunds if you have requested 7 days before the event. Any requests after will be at the discretion of the event organiser.

Is the event dog friendly?

Yes, Pints of Knowledge is dog friendly. We request that dogs are on a leash and well behaved. If there's persistent disturbance you will be asked to leave.
