Charity Finance 101 for Trustees and Managers

Wed 18 Nov 2026 10:00 AM - 11:30 PM GMT Online, Microsoft Teams

This interactive training is tailored to trustees and staff of small and medium-sized charities who have little or no prior financial experience and want to build their confidence in charity finance.

Designed for people who feel uncertain about charity finances, this course explains key financial concepts in a practical and accessible way, without technical jargon or accounting knowledge being required.

By joining us on this course, you will gain a clearer understanding of:

  • the financial responsibilities of trustees and senior managers
  • how charity finances work in practice
  • how to read and interpret key financial documents
  • the meaning and application of key terms, such as reserves and restricted funds
  • reporting requirements and financial controls
  • how to identify potential financial risks and ask informed questions

By the end of the training, attendees will feel more confident contributing to their charity’s financial sustainability, governance, and decision-making.

Who is this training for?

This training is particularly suitable for:

  • first-time trustees
  • recently appointed charity managers or leaders
  • operational staff with budget responsibilities
  • anyone involved in charity governance who would like a stronger understanding of finance

No prior finance experience is required.
