Fostering Self-Determination in Adults with Developmental Disabilities
Person-centred plans focus on an individual's strengths, needs, and goals to direct their life and promote community inclusion. How can we, as service providers, support persons served in taking control of their choices, setting their own goals, and acting in ways that reflect their expressed values?
Building off of our in-person Inclusive Framework and Collaborative Care workshops, this presentation will teach staff how to support vulnerable populations with :
How to build autonomy in day-to-day living
How to advocate for one’s rights
How to provide meaningful input into decisions that affect them.
Service providers will learn how to provide the people they serve with a level of control, with the necessary support in place.
This online course is part of Pivot Point’s ongoing education series for CLBC agency partners, individuals receiving services, and caregivers.
This event will take place on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 9am - 12 pm PDT / 10am - 1 pm MDT
