Join us for an exclusive live recording of Changed My Mind, the podcast that explores the thinking behind serious shifts of opinion. This panel discussion will feature Bishop Rosemarie Mallet, Bishop of Croydon, Aman Sethi, editor-in-chief of Open Democracy, Alison Goldsworthy, CEO of The Depolarisation Project, and Laura Osborne, Managing Director of WPI Economics. Together, the panel will explore mind-changing moments in their own lives, and why this can feel so challenging for us all. How does changing your mind work when you're in the public eye? And how does faith factor when it comes to adaptive thinking? The panel will  also discuss perspectives on how attitudinal shifts happen beyond their own experience, considering respectful dialogue, bridge-building, and learning across difference. 

There will be a private Q+A following the panel discussion.

About the panel: 

Rt Revd Dr Rosemarie Mallett became Bishop of Croydon in 2022, following her ministry as Archdeacon of Croydon. Born in Barbados and raised largely in the UK, she began her career as a research sociologist and academic, specialising in international development and mental health. A leading voice in the Church of England, she serves as a trustee of several national Christian organisations, and is Joint Lead Bishop for Racial Justice, with Bishop Arun, Bishop of Kirkstall . She is a Fellow of the Westminster Abbey Institute and was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by London South Bank University in 2025 for her leadership and service to the community. Since August 2026, she is serving as Acting Bishop of Southwark during the Vacancy in See. Dr Mallett regularly contributes to BBC Radio Four’s Prayer for the Day and has led Daily Worship on BBC Radio Four.

Aman Sethi is editor-in-chief of openDemocracy. Before this he was deputy executive editor at HuffPost. Prior to this he was the executive editor for strategy at BuzzFeed, editorial director with Coda Media, editor-in-chief of HuffPost India, associate editor with the Hindustan Times, and foreign correspondent (Africa) and Chhattisgarh correspondent with The Hindu. His award-winning reportage both in India and around the world has touched on some of the most pressing issues of our time, such as migration, land grabs, labour rights, public health, nationalism, democracy and insurgency. He is the author of the critically acclaimed non-fiction book ‘A Free Man’.

Alison Goldsworthy is a world expert on polarisation and campaigning. The bestselling book she co-authored, Poles Apart became the basis of one of Stanford’s most popular graduate courses “Leading in Challenging Times.” where she is the Senior Lecturer on their Leadership for Society Program. Ali’s career is rooted in movement building and political advice. She was Deputy Chair of the Liberal Democrats whilst they were in Government, and at Which? (the UK’s Consumer Association), she led the team that built the world’s fastest growing consumer movement. Ali is a senior research associate at The Intellectual Forum, Jesus College, Cambridge and has written for the Telegraph, Independent, New Statesman, The Times, and Financial Times. From time to time she hosts shows for the BBC - most recently Radio 4’s How Not to Kill a Politician. 

Outside work Ali is an internationally competitive powerlifter holding multiple national records and is Chair of the Board at the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust. 

Laura Osborne is an experienced business leader, co-host of the Changed my mind podcast, and co-author of the best-selling book, Poles Apart. Laura's background is in working with business to drive change and to understand the role it does and can play in society. She is Managing Director of WPI Economics and over the last 20 years has led teams in charities, corporates and government.
