Join us for 'It's a Wild Life: Tales from Television'
Dr George McGavin,
explorer,
author and TV presenter, shares his personal journey to discover the world of wildlife - big and especially small. In this talk George explains why his passion for biology is as strong as ever.
This Green Festival event is on the afternoon of Sunday 13th October 2024 at QE School. Doors will open at 4pm for refreshments and the opportunity to browse eco displays and talk to local green groups. The talk will start at 5pm and last about one hour. There will also be an opportunity to buy a signed copy of his book, 'The Good Bug'.
About George
Dr George McGavin is one of the UK’s leading authorities on the natural world. A zoologist and entomologist, he is passionate about all creatures great and especially small. He’s travelled the world in pursuit of various insects and has several insect species named after him. He is the author of numerous books, with a particular focus on the insect world. After teaching biological and human sciences at Oxford University for 25 years, he has used his expertise on television to present documentaries including Oak Tree: Nature’s Greatest Survivor, the BBC’s Lost Land series and Ocean Autopsy: The Secret Story of Our Seas. He is a regular contributor to The One Show. In 2019, George became President of Dorset Wildlife Trust.

Travel arrangements
Please consider how you will travel to the venue. Where possible please walk, cycle or take the bus (More Buses will drop you off in Wimborne Square and there is a 20 - 30 minute walk uphill to the venue). If you do drive (there is parking on site, including accessible parking), please car share where possible.
Accessibility and Toilets
The hall is accessible and there are toilets and accessible toilets in the school.
