Planet Wimborne Green Festival 2026 - RiverMind Vocal Workshop

An exciting chance to learn some new river chants, dedicated to our local rivers, and to perform them as part of the RiverMind concert in the evening. All welcome, beginner and experienced singers alike. The session will be led by Karen Wimhurst on Sunday 11th October at 3pm in the Garden Room at the Museum of East Dorset in Wimborne.  The event is free to attend.

Karen Wimhurst is a widely commissioned composer ranging from chamber works to music theatre, theatre and large-scale, collaborative productions. She has been commissioned by festivals and ensembles throughout Britain with performances by the Bournemouth Sinfonietta, Welsh National Opera, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Electric Voice Theatre, Allegri Quartet and Solid Strings among others. She has written extensively for voices, from art songs through to large scale choral works drawing inspiration from classical, traditional and jazz genres. She is Director of the chamber choir Palida and co-conducts the Shaftesbury Community Choir.

Refreshments will be provided. Please note that to participate in the evening concert, tickets will need to be purchased in advance from the Allendale Centre ticket office (https://www.theallendale.org/).

Doors will open at 3pm in the Garden Room at the Hilda Coles Learning Centre at the Museum of East Dorset (MED). Please note the entrance to the meeting room is next to Wimborne Library off Crown Mead and is not accessible through the MED main door on the High Street.
