Summer Foraging Workshop - Cauldside, Galloway
Sat 8 Jun 2024 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM BST
Cauldside, Glen Farm, DG7 2HG
Description
Over a fragrant summer's day, we will meander the hedgerows, rivers, woodland and moors of the Glen Farm, learning about the many wild plants and animals who live there.

About the workshop
This foraging walk is an opportunity rest and observe the wild plants and animals that surround us. By slowing things down, we will move in the rhythm of our ancestors, taking time to notice the life that otherwise passes us by.
The three hour walk begins at our base at the Glen Farm, from where we will explore three diverse habitats - moor, woodland and hedgerow. An adventure into the rich blossoming of early summer, we will learn how to cook and make medicine with the plants we find, as well as how to safely identify those that can cause harm.
At the close of the walk we will share a range of foraged snacks - leaving you with an understanding of how to make healing teas, food and medicine with the potently powerful summer plants we are blessed with at this time of year.
We hope you will gain:
- A relationship with over 15 wild plants, as well as any poisonous ones encountered
- Knowledge of some of Galloway's wild and uninhabited moorland and beautiful rivers and waterfalls
- Methods of preparation to make herbal remedies at home
- A sense of confidence in your own foraging practice
- A relationship with wild plants that will last a lifetime
