It's here! The first Plant Powered Kids Festival to hit NYC arrives Sunday, February 2nd, 2025!
🔥 INDOORS AT INDUSTRY CITY 🔥
Co-hosted with Plant Based Juniors and presented with Plant Powered Metro New York, the Coalition for Healthy School Food and more, we are bringing you an expert-packed, fun-filled, delicious and healthy event for the whole family.
Festival hours are 10AM-5PM (Golden Ticket-holders may enter one hour early, at 9AM).
📚 Book Nook: have a relaxed hang. Chat. And Read! At the Plant Powered Book Nook.
🎨 Art-making: use recycled materials and be led in some activist art projects!
9am-1pm: Buttons! Coyote (CJ) Jacobs has been creating buttons, among other forms of activist art since he was a kid. His inspiration draws primarily from experiences with non-human animals, especially those rescued from places of exploitation. Join him from 9-1 pm to learn how to create your very own buttons!
1pm-5pm make recycled activist art with KoKo NYC.
KoKo NYC is the arts education program of Open Source Gallery, a non-profit arts organization based in Brooklyn, NY. At KoKo NYC all kids are artists & inventors. KoKo NYC encourages playful and imaginative risk-taking by using real tools and recycled materials in their sustainability focused programs. Empowered by KoKo NYC Teaching Artists, kids see possibilities, problem solve, create, and explore.

🌱 11:30-12:15 Plant Based Juniors present: Plant Powered Fireside Chat
Plant-Based Juniors co-creator Alex Caspero has a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics, and a master’s in exercise science. She is the chef behind the website Delish Knowledge, and has developed recipes for several best-selling cookbooks. Co-creator Whitney English received her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, and her master’s in nutrition and longevity. She works as a speaker, consultant, and food program host; she also runs a private practice advising adults and children on predominantly plant-based diets. The two moms most recently founded PBJ’s Learning Center to offer fun and interactive nutrition courses for parents and caregivers.
🧘♂️ 12:30-1:15 Animal Yoga Workshop with Danielle Medina (Fit N Play Mama)
Danielle Medina is the creator of Fit N Play Mama LLC, a lifestyle coaching educational service for adults and children. She offers consultations and classes as well as workshops to teach the importance of staying active and eating healthy throughout life. As a certified fitness/yoga expert, culinary educator, nutritionist, and mom, she focuses on empowering her clients by providing them with easy and practical mindful fitness routines and meal plan cooking guides.
👥 1:30-2:15 Making Change in Your School: Joined by vegetarian school principals Bob Groff and Ruth Stanislaus as well as a member of NYC Food Policy, and Amie Hamlin of the Coalition for Healthy School Food.
🫘 2:30-3:15 Plant-Powered Kids Get Together: Age-Specific Ice Breakers & Activities!
👥 3:30-4:15 Change-Making for Kids: Stewart Mitchell (Vigilante Vegan), Marisa Miller Wolfson (Vegucated), Danielle Medina (Fit N Play Mama), Lianna Levine Reisner (Director of Plant Powered Metro New York).
🎶 4:15-5:00 Music, Magic and Puppets with Jumpin' Jamie!
Kiddie rocker Jumpin' Jamie's four albums have amassed more than half a million streams on Spotify. They have performed for 12,000 fans at Citi Field in NYC, at Comic Cons in numerous cities, for celebrities such as Alicia Keys, and at corporate events for Twitter and Seventh Generation. Their songs have been featured on several PBS programs including Sesame Street.
