Left of PuSh (LoP) is Plastic Orchid Factory’s platform for dance makers working at the margins to share experiments-in-process. Founded in 2018 and running alongside the PuSh Festival, LoP offers a non-transactional space for artists to share work with peers and presenters. This season, POF partners with Studio 303 (Montréal) and Mile Zero Dance (Edmonton) on RELAY—a new initiative linking research, creation, and production across cities, supported by CanDance’s Creative Exchange Project—with Left of PuSh serving as the “creation/testing” phase.

Kait Ramsden Do You Love Me? is an interdisciplinary performance that explores the intersection of female desire and its censorship – particularly how the female body and its sexual agency are controlled, fragmented, and repressed by digital and societal forces. Do You Love Me? wonders: which fantasies serve to enliven a sense of self and which dismantle it?

Creator/Performer/Co-Composer | Kait Ramsden
Co-Composer | Big Zen

Camille Huang Puncture and Pull is an inquiry on contact between the body and the 'puncture and pull' of the sewing machine. Objects, sound and dance converge to explore gendered attributions surrounding repetition, touch, machinery and its parts. The body becomes haunted with pattern, pull, insistence, and a fleshy intertwining with machines.

Creator/Performer/Director/Sound Design | Camille Huang
Sound Design | Rodolfo Rueda
Rehearsal Assistant | Camile Bellefleur

Stephanie Cumming & Chris Bullough fort. is a meeting of old friends who connected as teenagers over a love of musical theatre in the remoteness of northern Alberta in the early 90’s. They revisit their past and attempt to process the ambivalence they share about where they grew up and the confrontation that exists with their present realities of living as artists.

Creator/Performer | Stephanie Cumming
Creator/Performer | Chris Bullough

Presented by Plastic Orchid Factory in partnership with Mile Zero Dance, Studio 303 with support from the CanDance Network

plastic orchid factory and Left of Main are located in the heart of Historic Chinatown on the unceded, ancestral and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) people. As artists who live, work and play on these lands, we strive to be allied with, learn from and acknowledge the rights of Indigenous Peoples.
