Tickets are now live for our second SheClimbs event taking place here at Plas y Brenin National Outdoor Centre in Capel Curig. Whether you're a beginner or intermediate, you're invited on Friday 16th - Sunday 18th August to take part in climbing workshops, meet other women in the climbing community, chat with lots of climbing brands and professionals and have fun!
What is SheClimbs?
As a National Outdoor Centre, one of our aims is to encourage more women to get active in the outdoors. SheClimbs is a weekend event to bring together women who are beginners and intermediates from all over the UK.
We are inviting those with an interest in climbing who wish to improve or enhance their skills with like-minded individuals. This exciting event will consist of climbing workshops, inspiring speakers, brands, and more, to get you immersed in the climbing world and help you develop your skills!
What does the weekend involve?
SheClimbs begins on the evening of Friday 16th August and we're kicking the event off with some food and fun icebreakers!
Saturday 17th will see a day of exciting climbing courses with our expert instructors and freelancers. Courses will take place in a variety of beautiful locations throughout North Wales, plus in climbing walls including Plas y Brenin, Indy and Beacon. Saturday will give you the opportunity to get social with a range of cool brands, followed by dinner, inspiring talks and the chance to wind down in our bar area.
Sunday 18th will see a day of more climbing, concluded with a talk here at the centre with tea/coffee and cake!

Course Descriptions:
Saturday and Sunday - Introduction to Climbing (Beginner)
Please note this workshop runs over 2 days, on Saturday and Sunday: Come and try rock climbing in a safe supportive and fun environment . We will cover, all the foundation skills and knowledge for becoming a climber. You will learn to belay safely, tie knots, read the rock and have fun.
Saturday and Sunday - Indoor to Outside Climber (Beginner/Intermediate)
Please note this workshop runs over 2 days, on Saturday and Sunday: Regular indoor climber who wants to progress outdoors. Apply your indoor skills to the outdoors crag. Learn about gear and rope set ups to become independent at single pitch crags.
Saturday and Sunday - Introduction to Scrambling (Beginner)
Please note this workshop runs over 2 days, on Saturday and Sunday: Are you a keen hillwalker that’s wants to take the next step into more challenging terrain? Learn how to move through the mountains on graded ground. Gain confidence in route finding and good foot work.
Saturday and Sunday - Introduction to Sea Cliff Climbing (Intermediate)
Please note this workshop runs over 2 days, on Saturday and Sunday: Want to experience the beauty and challenges of a new environment, climbing above the sea. Covering ways to approach sea cliffs. Identifying routes from above, setting up from the top, abseiling in, understanding tides and other hazards e.g. swell. Climbing cool routes.
Saturday and Sunday - Advanced Scrambling (Intermediate)
Please note this workshop runs over 2 days, on Saturday and Sunday: Take your scrambling up a level. Learn the skills to tackle grade 3 scrambles. Learn how to move safely in steeper terrain, using a rope when needed giving you the confidence to explore the mountains.
Saturday and Sunday - Introduction to Multi-Pitch Climbing (Intermediate)
Please note this workshop runs over 2 days, on Saturday and Sunday: Multi pitch climbing on classic North Wales crags. Learning to climb on multi pitch crags. Belaying a lead climber, becoming a competent second, what to do at stance, route finding, crag descents.
Saturday and Sunday - Improvised Rescue (Intermediate/Advanced)
Please note this workshop runs over 2 days, on Saturday and Sunday: Solving potential problems while climbing. Covering useful skills such as tying of a belay plate, simple hoists to help stuck climbers, prussiking and escaping the system.
Saturday and Sunday - Alpine Preparation (Advanced)
Please note this workshop runs over 2 days, on Saturday and Sunday: Thinking of heading to the alps. Want to gain confidence in rope techniques that will help you have an amazing and safe time in the alpine terrain. This course is for you.
Saturday and Sunday - Learn to Lead Climb (Advanced)
Please note this workshop runs over 2 days, on Saturday and Sunday: You’re a competent second and you want to take the next step. Learning the intricacies of gear placements, building belays and managing ropes. Rope finding and crag descents.
Saturday (1 day only) Crack climbing masterclass:
Please note this workshop runs on Saturday only. Want to improve your jamming technique or learn how to overcome an off width, then this session is for you. Learn various techniques to improve performance and comfort on different type of cracks.
Saturday (1 day only) - Mental Performance with Danielle Griffith
Please note this workshop runs on Saturday only, select another workshop for Sunday. A great opportunity to learn the tips and tricks to improve your head game and help you progress as a climber.
Saturday (1 day only) -Technique/Movement Coaching with Emma Twyford and Dave Evans
Please note this workshop runs on Saturday only, select another workshop for Sunday: A fantastic opportunity to be coached by a world-class climber. Looking at movement skills using bouldering indoors/outdoors.

FAQs
Who is SheClimbs for?
SheClimbs is an event for women ranging from complete beginners through to those that are advanced. We welcome everyone who identifies as female or non-binary to take part.
What Is Included in My Ticket?
We have two ticket options available: SheClimbs Residential Pass and SheClimbs Non-Residential Pass.
Both residential and non-residential passes include the below:
- Your choice of 2 one-day courses or 1 two-day courses on Saturday and Sunday
- A goodie bag from our partners and sponsors!
- Access to our brand meet and greet and evening talks on Saturday evening
- Breakfast, packed lunch, tea/coffee + cake and dinner (Saturday) and breakfast, lunch and tea/coffee + cake (Sunday)
- Access to our onsite showers and drying facilities
- Travel to and from your climbing courses if they’re offsite
As well as the above, your residential pass includes two nights’ accommodation onsite here at Plas y Brenin to make your stay convenient and comfortable.
Can we swap the workshops that we are booked onto? We have a range of courses from beginners to advanced which you can choose from when booking, please choose carefully to ensure you are happy with the course choice. Once booked we are unable to offer any swaps, if you are unsure of which course is right for you please give us a call or email.
What is included in the food package? Both residential and non-residential tickets include food from Friday evening through to Sunday tea/coffee and cake.
Am I able to use kit from Plas y Brenin's stores? If you have your own rack and other climbing equipment please do bring it along. For those without their own kit, we can provide it from our stores free of charge. Any kit you bring will need to be inspected by instructors.
What accommodation options are there? At Plas y Brenin we have a range of onsite accommodation which can be found here. Please note you can choose your accommodation option when booking via Ticket Tailor.
What happens if there are poor weather conditions during the event? Our instructors will adapt the program depending on weather conditions to make sure all attendees stay safe.
