James Price + Katie Keeley Evening Lecture

Sat 31 Oct 2026 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM Plas y Brenin - National Outdoor Centre, LL24 0ET

Due to popular demand - We will be releasing a limited number of tickets,  part of our annual Expedition Symposium.  On the evening of Saturday 31st October, James Price and Katie Keeley will give two fantastic talks on some of their most recent climbing adventures.

We will  be kicking of the evening with a raffle, raising funds for the Mountain Adventure Fund (MAF). Providing subsidised places for young people to access the outdoor and have adventures themselves.

James Price made a name for himself in 2021, at the age of 24, by completing three solo ascents in the Batura Range in Pakistan: the first solo ascents of Passu North (6,884 m) and the opening of new routes on Passu Diar (7,295 m) and Maidon Sar (6,090 m), leaving unsupported from the road side.
Last year James Price from England and George Ponsonby from Ireland added a new route to the rarely climbed Aikache Chhok (6673m), also referred to as Sia Chhish or Yain Hisk, in the Baltar valley in Pakistan. The pair were part of a Young Alpinist Group expeditio

9 days of climbing the new route "Secrets, Shepherds, Sex and Serendipity" (M7, AI5, A2+, 3000m). Is a truly remarkable achievement. Winning them both a Piolets d’Or.
If you want to be blown away by this ascent, hear about the extreme technical nature of the route, how they chose their objective, the kit they took and what they ate and how they suffered you wont be disappointed.

Katie Keeley is a Peak District-born climber sponsored by @dmm_climbing & @mountainequipment with a passion for adventure that spans trad, big walls, alpine routes and expedition climbing.
Katie has recently been back from a month in Skardu, Pakistan mentoring local female climbing guides with Ascend Athletics, and six weeks on an expedition climbing granite in the Charskusa Valley. She is also currently working towards her Mountaineering and climbing instructor certificate.

Katies talk follows Katie’s journey into big wall and expedition climbing, from early adventures closer to home to gradually building the skills, experience and confidence to take on increasingly serious and remote objectives.
The main focus is an expedition to the Karavshin region of Kyrgyzstan, one of the most spectacular climbing areas in Central Asia. Katie will share stories of the joys and challenges of big wall climbing, reflecting on decision-making, risk, and some of the lessons she has learnt along the way.
