NETA ROTH PRESENTS:

A VERY CLOWNLESS SHOW AT PLAYHOUSE EAST

Neta Roth debuts her immersive, claustrophobic drama A Very Clownless Show at Playhouse

East on 21st-22nd October, 28th October and 1st-2nd November.

Two men, one stage, and an audience holding all the power - A Very Clownless Show is a darkly

funny, nerve-racking battle of guilt, truth, and redemption in the strangest courtroom of all.

Two strangers - David, 20, and Mitchell, 50 - wake up tied to chairs on a bare stage. They don’t know

how they got there, why they’ve been brought together, or who the silent audience is, watching their every

move. Hovering above them, a screen flashes cryptic instructions, dictating what the audience must do.

Their fate lies not in their own hands, but in the hands of those watching.

Both men are guilty of something, though neither is willing to confess. As the performance unfolds,

David wrestles with rage and guilt over his crumbling marriage, while Mitchell confronts traumatic

memories and deep-seated insecurities. Under the pressure of the audience’s gaze, their truths begin to

crack open.

A Very Clownless Show is a darkly comic, immersive theatre experience about guilt, manipulation, and

redemption. With nothing on stage but two actors, a screen, and a room full of witnesses, the play asks:

are we only as bad as the worst thing we’ve done? Can anyone truly be redeemed? And what happens

when judgment is no longer in the hands of a jury, but in the hands of society itself?

A Very Clownless Show’s team are coming together with an array of individual expertise, to support this

impactful work.
