Mr Thrushby's Adventure (FRINGE FEB)
Showing as a part of Feb Fringe at Playhouse East. Platforming New Work throughout February 2026.
A new play by Esme Waters
Mr Thrushby’s Adventure, set at the start of the Second World War, takes a retired bachelor stuck in his ways and liberates him from the boredom of his life. A humdrum existence has led Mr Thrushby to yearn for adventure; but has he left it too late? In the midst of his despair, likeable rogue Sam Carlton – a young criminal on the run after an audacious burglary – bursts into his life. Mr Thrushby finds himself in cahoots with a criminal and embarks upon his own comedic and thrilling adventure – in a wholly unorthodox manner!
Mr Thrushby's Adventure received a staged reading by The Bravo! Theatre, Mexico, in April 2025, and an extract was performed at The Asylum Players Scratch Night (Lincoln, England) in the same month. The play has also received a reading in New York as part of the 2025 Hudson Valley Theatre Festival and was selected as one of the Top 40 for Centre Stage's 23rd Annual New Play Festival. In January 2026, the play received a staged reading by the Windsor Words Workshop, Theatre Royal Windsor, to an enthusiastic review by Theatre Life.
