Dancing your ALIVENESS
Multiple dates and times
Pathways Studio, Salford, M50 2XH
Description
Come and join Pleasure Rebels for the next installment of "unfettered queer joy" at Dancing Your ALIVENESS!
This is a queer-led, clothing-optional event that invites you to celebrate your body through movement.
We believe that MAGIC can happen when we REALLY listen to our bodies and how they respond to the music. When we pay attention to how they want to move, or not. When we notice our self-consciousness coming and going, and choose to give ourselves these moments of respite (however brief) from our constant effort of “keeping it together” or trying to be, do, or look a certain way.
Dancing becomes a form of pure expression, a gift to yourself, a way to feel what needs to be felt within us and let it flow, to remember our true essence, and CELEBRATE LIFE.
Don’t consider yourself to be a “good” dancer?! No problem! This is a space in which you can dance, shake, stomp, cry, howl, laugh, be primal, or be still. Your sounds, emotions (and sweat) are welcome! There are no steps to learn and you can't get it wrong. Allow our DJ to take you on a journey that may go deep and dark, or have you floating across the room in a bliss-like state.
What to expect:
Doors will open from 6.30 pm for a 7.00 pm start - please arrive on time, grab a drink, and get yourself settled into the space. We will not be able to let you join if you arrive after this time.
We will then welcome you all into the space and guide you gently into the experience, inviting you to let go of whatever your day has entailed and drop into connection with your body.
Our DJ will bring the room to life until about 9.00 pm and then we will finish by coming back together in a closing circle. Doors will close at 10.00 pm allowing you some time to hang out and chat with others before you leave.
Throughout the event, you can choose to take a break, have some alone time, chill out, draw, journal, etc. There will also be some hot and cold drinks available and you're welcome to bring some snacks if you're likely to get peckish!
Our group guidelines:
- We ask that phones are not used by participants in the event space - this includes taking photos
- During the DJ set, we ask that talking is kept to a minimum on the dancefloor to keep the focus as much as possible on your individual experience. We do have a separate space though to hang out and catch up with each other.
- This is a queer-led, queer- and trans-celebrating event which also welcomes allies and respectful humans.
- For those who may wish to shed some layers as they’re dancing, this is welcome but by no means an expectation - please choose what feels comfortable for you.
- Lastly - and hopefully this goes without saying - please be respectful to yourself and to others in this space. We aim to create a space where people can feel free to express themselves without people acting inappropriately towards them - it is not a space for judging, shaming, staring at, or making unsolicited comments of any nature about others’ bodies (regardless of how positive you think they might be)
The venue:
We have selected a great venue designed to be inclusive and accessible. The entire studio is on the ground floor with all doorways allowing a wheelchair to pass through. The facilities include all-gender toilets and an accessible toilet with grab rails. The venue also benefits from free parking and excellent public transport links.
If you have any questions about the suitability of this event, please contact us and we can provide the information you need to make an informed decision.
** Please note that this is a “no shoes indoors” venue so we will be asking you to remove your shoes and place them in a shoe rack when you arrive**

About your hosts :
Our DJ for this event will be DJ Luke Fox. Luke provided the lush soundtrack to our play party and aftercare events back in November and we are delighted to have him back! Luke is bringing YEARS of experience in DJing and organising club nights, not to mention he's arguably the most stylish person ever to join The Kinky Classroom, other than me of course 🤷🏻♀️!
Your host for the evening is Lex. Lex loves creating permissive spaces where people can express themselves, explore the themes of POWER, PLEASURE, and PLAY, and - ultimately - bring more of their unique magic to the world. As the founder of Pleasure Rebels, they work with individuals and groups to create transformative experiences of self-acceptance firmly rooted in the Wheel of Consent. They also run non-scary kink events as part of The Kinky Classroom.
This event is also supported by our fabulous crew member Fennel who is on hand to welcome you to the event and generally be a friendly face should you want someone to chat to.
