The Kinky Classroom - Practice & Play
Multiple dates and times
The Pathways Studio, Salford, M50 2XH
Description
A special offering from The Kinky Classroom for those who have completed the Getting into Ethical Kink course or equivalent work/training.
The Practice & Play events offer an opportunity for you to connect with your peers in person, to practice using some of the skills and tools we've shared, and to play. Whether you are a regular at play parties or kinky events and looking for something a bit more "conscious", or a newbie looking to dip your toe (or other parts) into this world, you are welcome here!
What to expect:
We recognise that it can feel like a big leap to go from attending workshops, talks, or courses to actually stepping out into this world. We want to remove some of the pressure that can be felt around an event like this - will I meet anyone? what if I don't feel like playing when I get there? will I feel awkward? These days are designed in such a way that yes - you can come and play if it takes your fancy - AND there will be plenty to do if you don't.
There will be connection games, demonstrations from the team, practical exercises, space to socialise or play, and a chance for you to step into the spotlight if you feel called to so that we can all be inspired and reflect on what elements make a scene powerful.
The space will be set up with multiple areas - for play, for performances, for socialising, and a quieter wellbeing/aftercare area.
There will be an opening gathering in which we will guide you through the different spaces, group agreements, and you'll get to know the crew who will be on hand to support throughout the day. There will be an invitation to take part in some playful connection exercises as you get to know the other participants. It's then up to you how you'd like to spend your day!
These are daytime, sober events.
When are they?
There are three dates announced so far:
Sunday 29th September (11 am - 5 pm)
Saturday 23rd November (11 am - 5 pm)
Sunday 24th November (11 am - 5 pm)
Pre-requisites and considerations:
Attendees should be willing and comfortable entering into negotiation conversations with any potential play partners and remain in communication throughout.
If you have not attended any training with The Kinky Classroom previously or worked with Pleasure Rebels, please get in touch before buying your tickets so that we can discuss whether this is suitable for you.
This is a queer-led event that welcomes respectful humans of all genders, sexualities, and relationship orientations. We will not tolerate inappropriate behaviour including the judging or shaming of others' bodies.
What to wear and bring:
Dress to express! Kinky, boudoir, and fetish attire are all welcome but not a requirement. What's most important is that you dress in a way that makes YOU feel good. Layers are generally a good idea.
If you have any kinky accessories and toys that you'd like to use, please bring them along. We will have some sexual health supplies available throughout the night (gloves, condoms, lube, etc.) and if you speak nicely to the crew they may be willing to lend you some of their toys!
We will provide some drinks and snacks but recommend bringing your own water bottle. Please do not bring alcohol into this event.
The schedule:
Doors will open at 10.45 am for an 11 am start, giving you time to settle into the space.
Our opening gathering will start at 11.15 am. Doors will be closed at this point so please don't arrive late!
We will ease in with some playful activities before the main programme begins around 11.45 am
We will wrap up by 4.45 pm to give people time to get changed etc. before the venue closes at 5.00 pm. You are also welcome to leave before this time if you like!
The venue:
We have selected a great venue, which is designed to be inclusive and accessible. The entire studio is on the ground floor with all doorways allowing a wheelchair to pass through. The facilities include all-gender toilets and an accessible toilet with grab rails AND a shower! The venue also benefits from free parking and excellent public transport links.
Play and performance spaces will be mostly on floor mats with the option of using chairs if you prefer.
If you have any questions about the suitability of this event, please contact us and we can provide the information you need to make an informed decision.
About your crew:
Lex is the embodiment-focused sex and kink educator behind Pleasure Rebels. They guide individuals and groups in explorations around topics such as consent, sexuality, pleasure, intimacy, identity, relating, and power. Professionally trained as a Certified Sexological Bodyworker, Embodied Facilitator, and Certified Dominatrix (among other things), a big focus of their work is around how kink - done consciously - can be used as a route to empowerment and us becoming whole, integrated humans.
Joining the event:
You can join each gathering for £60 or all 3 for £175.
If you feel that price is a limiting factor to your attending, or if you would like to discuss a payment plan, please get in touch and we will see what we can do!
