Intersecting Patterns with Christian Red
Pleasure Rebels is super excited to announce the third in our series of "Beyond Fundamentals" rope workshops for 2026 in collaboration with Christian Red. (Check out pleasurerebels.com/events for more)
In this workshop, we will be exploring the rough side of beautiful rope...
We will look at how we can tie beautiful intersecting patterns whilst integrating elements of body manipulation, rope handling and scenecraft. We’re not just building pretty patterns, we’re making a rope scene, one overlap at a time.
Technically robust ties will be delivered with speed, intention and accuracy, whilst also exploring the potential for level changes, controlled descents, and contorted positions.
This is a compound of aesthetic rope, delivered with intensity.
As well as presenting various ideas for ties, this class aims to improve technical understanding, build better rope handling, and make attendees more confident when approaching rope scenes.
Our teacher
Christian is a rope/takedown teacher based in Nottingham who has been teaching since 2012. Pre-requisites and considerations:
All attendees should be willing and comfortable entering into negotiation conversations with any potential practice partners and to remain in communication throughout.
This is a practical, hands-on class designed for people who already have a basic level of tying knowledge and experience.
Those tying: Will need to be comfortable tying a single column tie and frictions.
Those being tied: Will need to know how to check for signs of nerve damage and communicate with their tying partner.
This workshop is best suited to those who may be willing to partner up and practice with another person or people. If you already have a friend or practice partner who you know is coming, you are also welcome to stick together and practice with each other throughout. We also tend to have a lot of people arriving solo and looking to partner up on the day. We welcome adults of all genders, sexualities, and relationship orientations and encourage participants to consider the learning opportunities that may be possible through practicing on different bodies, regardless of attraction or usual preferences. You will be in choice throughout about if and how you wish to participate in any practical elements.
Keep yourself hydrated during the workshop and be mindful of your energy levels.
What to wear and bring:
Around 4 lengths of approx 7.5m rope and safety shears. If you don't already have rope or want to stock up, we have added the option to pre-order some from us, which you will then receive at the beginning of the workshop.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Layers are generally a good idea.
We will provide some drinks and snacks throughout the day and recommend bringing your own water bottle, a packed lunch and/or something that can be shared with the group (labelled if possible for those with allergies). There aren't a huge amount of places to get food locally so come prepared!
The schedule:
This is a one-day workshop taking place on Sunday 3rd May in Salford, Greater Manchester.
Doors will open at 10.45 am for an 11 am start. The workshop will run until 5 pm with a roughly one-hour break for lunch and shorter, ad hoc bio breaks.
The venue:
We have selected a great venue, which is designed to be inclusive and accessible. The entire studio is on the ground floor with all doorways allowing a wheelchair to pass through. The facilities include all-gender toilets and an accessible toilet with grab rails. The venue also benefits from free parking and excellent public transport links.
Seating during the workshop will be either on floor mats (with cushions and blankets available for extra comfort) or on chairs. You are also welcome to bring your own "backjack" or other back support/seating to make sure you are comfortable.
This workshop is intended to adapt techniques to students with a wide variety of physical capabilities. If you have concerns regarding the suitability of the venue or working with existing injuries or conditions, please contact us beforehand if you'd like to discuss what's best for you.
About the organiser:
Lex is an embodiment-focused sex and kink educator guiding individuals and groups in explorations around topics such as consent, sexuality, pleasure, intimacy, identity, relating, and power. They are the founder of Pleasure Rebels and offer this workshop as part of The Kinky Classroom. Professionally trained as a Certified Sexological Bodyworker, Embodied Facilitator, and Certified Dominatrix (among other things), a big focus of their work is around how kink - done ethically- can be used as a route to empowerment and us becoming whole, integrated humans.
Joining the workshop:
We require a minimum of six participants to go ahead with this workshop. On the off chance that we don't reach this number in time, we will let you know and refund your fee 1 week before the start date at the latest.
If you have any questions about this workshop, please contact us at hello@pleasurerebels.com.
We have tiered pricing for this workshop to try and make it as accessible as possible. If you feel that price is still a limiting factor to your attending, or if you would like to discuss a payment plan, please get in touch and we will see what we can do!
