Intermediate Shibari ONLINE with Christian Red
Ready to enhance your existing tying skills? Join Christian Red and his co-teachers for this fully online course, delivered across 4 weekly sessions.
This course will build on the solid base we built during the Intro course, and show how to use these components to build more elaborate ties.
What to expect:
Live, online classes each week featuring discussion and theory, demonstrations and walk-throughs, time to practice, and the opportunity to have your questions answered.
This course is designed for people who have already completed The Kinky Classroom's Intro to Shibari or Shibari for Beginners courses (online or in-person) or equivalent classes covering the fundamentals, including rope safety. To get the most out of this class, we recommend you are comfortable tying a single-column tie, double-column tie, and x-frictions.
This course can be taken by a tying pair, or can be self-tied.
All live classes will be hosted on Zoom and will also be recorded, allowing you to watch them back if you can't attend live or wish to revisit the content. Recordings will remain available for a period of 3 months from the date of recording. Ticketholders will also have access to a private Discord server, where you'll find links to live classes and recordings, weekly optional skill-building tests, and a digital quick reference guide that breaks down the rope skills covered during the classes, as well as opportunities to chat with other course participants (if you like!) and share photos of your practice ties for feedback. Ticketholders will receive the invitation link to Discord in their confirmation email.
You are not required to have your camera on during the class, but we encourage you to do so if you would like to receive feedback on your ties and, well, it's just kinda nice to see some of your faces too!
We welcome adults of all genders, sexualities, and relationship orientations.
The schedule:
Week 1: Double-layered structures (Tuesday 3rd November)
We will bulk up our ties, making structures like the futomomo and chest harness more sturdy and less stretchy. We will explore different methods of expanding the thickness of our ties.
Week 2: The inline single-column tie (Tuesday 10th November)
The inline single column tie (or hojo cuff), is a way of creating a secondary cuff after you’ve made a single column tie. This will allow you to tie feet together, arms behind the back in various different shapes, and a version of the demon tie.
Week 3: Hip ties (Tuesday 17th November)
This week we’ll show different methods of tying the hips: ways of binding with lots of handles, or hinging the hips forward.
Week 4: Crossing diamond ties (Tuesday 24th November)
Diamonds make for beautiful patterns but they also allow you to create ties that shape to the body and are super stable.
Each class will run from 7 - 9 pm (UK time).
What to wear and bring:
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. If you plan to have your camera on, please wear underwear at least.

You will need 3 pieces of rope (each measuring around 8 metres), and we recommend having safety shears whenever you’re tying. If you don't have enough rope, we have added the option to pre-order some from us, which will be posted out to you. Please note we can currently only take rope orders from the UK.
About your hosts:
This course will be led by Christian Red on behalf of The Kinky Classroom and Pleasure Rebels.
Christian is a rope/takedown teacher based in Nottingham who has been teaching since 2012. His focus as an educator is giving people tools and ideas to express themselves by breaking complex topics into simple ideas. Christian Red's involvement in the kink community has lasted 20 years so far. In recent years, he has taught at Prague Shibari, Athens Rope, Anatomie Studios, Rope On!, Rope Office Hours, String Fling, UKREX, and Oxford Peer Rope. He's a regular guest teacher at The Kinky Classroom and has also appeared on The Kinky Coffee Break podcast. In 2025, Christian created the free rope safety digital publication Knot Without Risk. It has since been translated to 8 languages. Christian has also released over 100 rope video tutorials and has been a frequent contributor to the online platform Shibari Study.
Christian will be co-teaching with AstroUnicorn, Flux Endure, Mika Kitten and Sapphicating.
