We are delighted to invite you to the launch event of Marjon Sport Performance at Plymouth Marjon University, taking place on the evening of July 1st, 2024. While Marjon is well recognised as a great university for students studying sports degrees, you may not be aware of the breadth of services we can provide to support athletes, clubs and coaches. This free event is a great opportunity for local athletes, sports clubs, and national governing bodies to explore our services and speak to our experts about how we can support their goals going forward. We're excited to work with you and show why Plymouth Marjon University is the perfect partner to support your sports performance needs.

Event Highlights
Welcome and Introduction
Join us in Marjon’s Grandstand Café for a short welcome talk from Joe Layden of the Marjon Sport Performance Team and Caroline Westwood, Dean of the School of Sport, Exercise, and Rehabilitation.
Interactive tours
Interactive tour designed, to not only to showcase our facilities but also to get you thinking about how we can support your specific needs and why Plymouth Marjon University is the best choice for your sports performance goals. The tour will provide an opportunity to see our facilities, ask questions, and network with our team and to understand how our services and expertise can support your sporting ambitions. To include:
- Athlete testing in action on our 3G pitch
- Talent identification exercises in our sports halls
- Introductions to our state-of-the-art sport therapy and rehabilitation clinics as well as our sports performance laboratories. These facilities include our accredited physiology laboratory, environmental chamber, biomechanics laboratory and strength and conditioning suite where we will showcase some of our physiological and biomechanical testing, along with sport injury and rehabilitation techniques.
Interactive Seminars:
- Seminar 1: Talent Identification and Support
- Led by Dr. Ryan Thomas and Erica Eaton Quinn, this session will facilitate discussions on talent identification and athlete development. We aim to demonstrate how we can support athletes and coaches across the southwest in their development, helping them achieve their full potential. Participate in the discussion and explore how Plymouth Marjon University can effectively support your sports programmes and initiative.
- Seminar 2: Supporting Athletes and National Governing Bodies
- During this session, we will highlight the FA Women's High Performance Football Centre as an example of the top-quality support we provide to athletes and benefits of working with us. Our aim is to showcase how our expertise can benefit athletes and NGBs across various sports, showcasing Plymouth Marjon University as a reliable resource for achieving excellence in sports performance.
- Seminar 3: Coaching Development in the Southwest
- Join Lee Ballard and Tim Dudding as they explore coach development practices. This interactive session will discuss our partnerships and the support we offer to local coaches, encouraging participants to share their experiences and needs.
Networking Opportunity:
Throughout the evening there will be networking opportunities, time to engage with our experts to learn more about how Marjon Sport Performance can support your sporting ambitions and coaching endeavours and the chance to meet and speak with athletes and players we have supported.
