Event: Team Marjon BRIT Challenge Day 2025

Date: Wednesday 12 March

Venue: Marjon Sport & Health Centre, and The Octagon

BRIT (British Inspiration Trust) are a collaborative charity and have created the BRIT Challenge in order to improve student and staff mental health and fitness, all whilst raising vital funds for charities throughout the UK. Team Marjon BRIT Challenge Day aims to bring together students and staff in a series of events.

Marjon will be running a range of activities from 12 noon to 14:00 on Wednesday 12 March.

All are free to take part in but some activities need to be booked (due to limited spaces). 

Please note: ELT have agreed for staff to take up to an hour off work to participate in the activities (exact times are to be agreed with your line manager).

Marjon has also committed to a fundraising target of £600. This will be divided between British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) and Improving Lives Plymouth. Donations are optional.

Below is a list of activities taking place either in Marjon Sports Centre or at the back of The Hub:

Bookable activities:

  • Padel, 12:00 - 14:00  (4 courts available per hour, can play as a pair of as a 4)
  • Swimming 13:00 - 14:00 (15 spaces available - open to all)
  • Yoga (Over 18s only) 12:00 - 13:00 in the Gymnasium (25 spaces available)

Staff v students - netball and volleyball in Sports Hall 2

  • Volleyball 12:00-13:00
    Places = 20 (rolling subs), made up of 10 staff places and 10 student places
  • Netball 13:00-14:00
    Places = 30 (rolling subs), made up of 15 staff and 15 student places. 

Drop-ins':

  • Walking session - from 12 noon - 13:00 setting off from the Octagon. If you are not free do not worry the chaplaincy dogs will be available from 10am - 3pm for walkies!

As a University we would like to clock over 2025 minutes of exercise in March. Use the activity tracker link to record your minutes – however you want to complete the minutes is fine (walk, swim, hand bike, cycle, paddle board, kayak or run).  https://share.gymrats.app/join?code=HYEKIXNO

Donating is optional but it is a great opportunity to have fun, try something new and raise money for good causes - all participants receive a free day pass to Marjon Sport & Health.
