Welcome to the latest meeting of the PPL Cinema Club. The Club normally meets on the 3rd Friday of the month The programme will include one long film and a shorter one.

His Girl Friday (1953) starring Cary Grant (colourised version)

His Girl Friday is a fast-paced screwball comedy about Walter Burns, a determined newspaper editor, and his ex-wife, Hildy Johnson, an exceptionally talented reporter. Although Hildy plans to leave journalism and marry insurance salesman Bruce Baldwin, Walter persuades her to cover one final story involving Earl Williams, a man sentenced to death for murder. As Hildy investigates, she uncovers corruption, political manipulation, and the pursuit of sensational headlines. While racing against time to reveal the truth, Walter also schemes to win Hildy back. The film combines witty dialogue, romance, and satire to examine journalism, ambition, ethics, and relationships.
