Cultivating Calm: Guided Meditation & Self-Reflection Practices

Join us for an approachable and peaceful evening practice designed to help you access calm more consistently in daily life. In the midst of busyness and distraction, this is dedicated time to slow down, settle your body and mind, and close the day with greater clarity and ease.

Calm does not arise out of the absence of life’s challenges; but forms the foundation from which we can navigate daily life with more consciousness, objectivity, and patience. From a state of calm we can perceive our own intuition more clearly, and act from the wisdom of the heart instead of the confusion of the mind.

Structure:

Each class will explore a simple theme, focus, and intention. We’ll use breathing practices, mindful movement, and other gentle tools for physical relaxation before moving into a guided meditation. We’ll then make space for self-reflection and journaling - an opportunity to move what is circling in the mind onto paper and help develop more clarity.

Meditation is a practice, and each week we will gradually build the foundations that bring calm into daily life. Attending all 6 weeks is ideal whenever possible, however even joining for 1 or 2 classes will be infinitely better than none at all!

Please bring:

  • A firm cushion (or bolster) and blanket to help you sit comfortably on the ground.
  • A journal and pen/pencil.

*Note:

  • We have cats in our home, and while they won't be joining us for meditation, those with very sensitive allergies may still be uncomfortable even after we run our vacuum and air purifier. If you have allergies, please contact Mischa at mischaharris@pneumainstitute.org.

Mischa has been a student of the Pneuma Institute since 2013, and facilitating classes and Pneuma Breathwork worldwide since 2019. After earning his Master's in Experimental Medicine from the University of British Columbia in 2012, Mischa was introduced to Pneuma and found an immediate connection to the teachings and practices. With consistently applying the practices and tools that he learned with Pneuma, he was able to experience shifts in his life that he didn't know were possible, opening up more happiness, peace, and purpose while overcoming a state of chronic anxiety. When not facilitating with Pneuma, Mischa works as a Kinesiologist and Fascial Stretch Therapist and is continuing to learn about the deeper layers of the body as a student in Osteopathy.

Lucy Harris, MSc

With an undergraduate background in psychology, Lucy has always been drawn to understanding the thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that influence how we relate to ourselves and others. Her passion for learning about the human psyche was further ignited when she encountered the teachings of Pneuma in 2015. Since then, she has experienced profound shifts in her sense of self and well-being that would not have been possible without these teachings and practices.

As a facilitator of Pneuma Breathwork for both adults and children, Lucy is delighted to share this transformative practice with people of all ages. Lucy is an island kid at heart and loves to connect with children and families through her work as a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist. As a complement to her studies with Pneuma, Lucy is studying to become a Registered Clinical Counsellor.
