What does it mean to work effectively with young performers now? This practical, in-person CPD day brings together two complementary workshops exploring how we can help young people develop the confidence, creativity and skills they need to perform.
Morning | 10am–1pm
Drama Games for Mindfulness and Emotional Health
Sam Marsden
Drawing on her book Drama Games for Mindfulness and Emotional Health, Sam will explore
practical drama games, improvisation and role play that can support young people's social
and emotional wellbeing.
The session will consider how we can help young people use their voice, establish
boundaries, build resilience and regulate, while responding to a challenge many teachers
and practitioners are currently experiencing: young people finding improvisation, creative
risk-taking and getting up to perform increasingly difficult.
Afternoon | 2pm–5pm
Rethinking Rehearsal: Practical Approaches for Working with Young Performers
Will Maynard + We Teach Drama

Participants will experience the exercises themselves and leave with specific, adaptable
approaches they can use to develop performance, confidence, creativity and greater
independence in rehearsal.

theatre settings.
