Pool Course: Improvers

Sat 17 Oct 2026 12:00 PM - Sat 7 Nov 2026 2:00 PM Spots and Stripes, SE1 0NR

Pocket Society is introducing a new Pool Course for Improvers, designed to take you to the next level of the game and make your play more intentional.

Saturdays 12–2pm · 17 Oct – 7 Nov · £65 for all four sessions. Can’t make one week? No problem. Each session works on its own, and we’ll give you a free table time to catch up on what you missed and Ella will help you catch up at the start of the next session.

Is this for you?
You know how to stand, bridge and hit the ball fairly straight. You pot the easier shots, but your game feels like one shot at a time rather than a plan. You don’t need to be good, just past the absolute-beginner stage.

Who is gonna teach you?
Ella plays competitive pool for London at county level. In a group of six you’ll get proper one-to-one attention, not just a demo from the front.

Course schedule:

  • Week 1 (17th of October) — Aiming & Cue Ball Control. Sharpen your aiming so your potting becomes more reliable, then start learning what the white ball does after it hits. You'll be introduced to three key shots: stun (stopping the white), follow (sending it forward) and screw (bringing it back).
  • Week 2 (24th of October) — The Break & Planning Ahead. Practise a controlled, confident break, then learn what to do with the table it leaves you. Work on choosing which ball to go for and thinking about your next shot before you play this one.
  • Week 3 (31st of October) — Smart Shot Choices. Not every shot has to be a pot. Learn how to read the table and play a safe shot that makes life difficult for your opponent when nothing easy is on.
  • Week 4 (7th of November) — Putting It Into Practice: Put everything together in competitive situations. Learn how to approach frames, manage pressure, use the rules to your advantage and adapt your tactics.

Our groups are small: only 6 people. Therefore, we encourage you to buy tickets in advance. Please email arina@pocketsociety.co.uk if you have any questions.

Class structure:

Each session: 2 hours. 30 minutes of warm-up and open play, then 90 minutes of coaching.

Women and non-binary players are especially welcome. We want to see more of you on the table.

Pricing:
£75 £65 for all four sessions, launch price until Thursday (the 15th) 8pm.
You have an option to split the payment into 3 at the check-out.
