PLT Visit to Regent’s Park and the New Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Garden
PLT Members are warmly invited to join a special visit to Regent's Park to view the soon-to-be-opened Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Garden and to receive a briefing on the Park’s management, with a particular focus on sustainability and biodiversity.
The Royal Parks have very kindly offered to host us for a private viewing of this new garden, created on part of their former nursery and works site. The garden will be formally opened at the end of April, and we have been given the opportunity of an exclusive preview and briefing from their Head Gardener, Fiona Packe, and Head of Sustainability, Alister Hayes.
Following our tour of the Memorial Garden, Alister will provide an overview of Regent’s Park, focusing on how it is maintained as a well-used, vibrant and historic central London park while also managing and enhancing its biodiversity. He will also share insights into the challenges presented by climate change. Anthony Bickmore, a PLT Trustee, will offer additional background on the wider management of the Park’s built environment, drawing on his experience at The Crown Estate, where he held responsibility for the Park.
