When it comes to iconic Pompey players there are few more disticntive than Alan Biley. With ahis Rod Stewart-esque shock of blond hair, he signed for Pompey for £100,000 from Everton on the eve of the 1982/83 season. After scoring on his debut against Sheffield United, a further 25 goals that campaign saw Pompey promoted as third division champrions. The following season was equlally prolofic as he formed an attacking spearhead with Mark Hateley. Despite further crucial goals - including a not-to-be-forgotten injury time brace to win a game against Oxford - in 1984/85, he fell out of favour and was controversially sold by manager Alan Ball to Brighton in March 1985.
In conversation he will tell the story of those extraordinary seasons and his indelible contribution to the club's folklore. A collection will also be taken on the evening for the charity of Alan's choice. Tickets are priced £3 for PHS members and £6 for non-members. To join the society (£10 per annum) now, click here or, alternatively, you can redeem a full-price ticket for a half-price annual membership on the night.
