Crucible of Nations
Description
Crucible of Nations is a fast-paced geopolitical megagame set in a fantasy world. Teams negotiate, bluff, threaten, betray, or cooperate as they guide their nations through great upheaval. Achieve your national objective with diplomacy, war, and espionage. Whether you're a seasoned megagamer or new to the genre, Crucible of Nations has something for everyone.
Civil war has shaken the Empire, creating a power vacuum unseen in centuries. Seven other nations grasp for power yet the imperial remnants refuse to bend. Will you lead your nation to glory, or witness its downfall?
Gameplay
Themes engaged in Crucible include national decision making, geopolitical negotiation, freedom and monarchical rule, and interesting power dynamics between nations of various sizes and resource capabilities.
There are 8 national teams of 4 players each, and a neutral team of 3 players. Each of the nations will have a Leader, a Minister of War, a Minister of the Interior, and a Minister of Diplomacy. The neutral team is comprised of retired heroes who seek to disseminate information and address crises of international importance.
This game has solid combat mechanics as well as empire building, resource management, tech tree improvement, infrastructure upgrading, diplomacy, espionage, and of course freeform actions.
Teams
All teams are 4 players except for the Council of Sages, which is 3. The teams are:
- The Aurelian Empire: A fallen empire, torn apart by civil war, seeks to redefine its place on the world stage.
- The Republic of Cassiarn: A fledgling nation, forged in blood, seeks to safeguard its freedom.
- The Woodland Federation: Three ancient peoples, newly united, seek to establish a new identity on the world stage as they spread their walking forests.
- The People of the Mist: Peaceful druidic environmentalists, who want to see all creatures flourish and enjoy nature’s bounties.
- The Realm of Arnoth: Ancient and proud dwarves who seek to convert their extensive mining operations into world influence.
- The Realm of Frostmourne: A cold dwarven kingdom seeking greater resources, concerned only with feeding their children for another year.
- The Kingdom of Laptul: A prosperous human kingdom, seeking to learn about the world around them as they seek out knowledge from dragon back.
- The Halflings of Darrow: A small kingdom of small people who have developed sharp cynicism and even sharper blades due to years of exploitation.
- The Council of Sages: A circle of retired heroes who seek to disseminate information and address crises of international importance.

This part of town is highly accessible to mass transit. Doors are locked up until 9:30 am and unfortunately we can't let folks in early. There will be signs in the lobby upon entering and it should be fairly obvious where to go.
