Introduction to darkroom printing
In this 3 hour introductory course with professional darkroom instructor Joshua Redfearn you will learn how to print a properly exposed image using a 35mm black & white negative. It will cover how to make test strips, how to use chemicals and how to wash & dry prints.
It will provide you with a basic understanding of darkroom printing, enabling you to print your own images and creating a base from which to learn more advanced darkroom techniques.
This course is perfect for complete beginners with no darkroom experience, and is limited to 2 people per session so you get plenty of hands-on time and support.
If you want to take things further, our Intermediate Darkroom Printing course runs the same afternoon (14.00–17.00), covering split-grade printing — book both for a full beginner-to-improver day in the darkroom.
You are required to bring 1x roll (or strip) of well shot and developed B&W negatives to print from to take part in this course.
£75 per person (£62.75 for POST members) — all materials included.
10.00–13.00, 2 sessions of 2 people. Dates: 12 September and 14 November.
(If you are considering becoming a POST darkroom member, this course replaces our mandatory induction session)
