The Bandstand

Sat 21 Jun 2025 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM Ellington Park, CT11 9TL

The Bandstand is where everything goes down and noise is made! This year we've partnered with Ramsgate Festival of Sound to make the bandstage louder and fill it with even more music and dance, plus our hostess with the mostess: Katie McGarry, will fill the park with energy throughout the day and keep you entertained between sets.

10 -11am: Silly Olympics
The Silly Olympics is a celebration of forgotten and downright daft games. Such wondrous sports as Welly Welly Boot Spoon, Trunkington Stanley, Sleeping Bag Racing and Jigsaw Puzzle Relay is just a taster of the silliness you can expect.

11am - 12pm: Sing & Sign
Sing and Sign is an award-winning programme specialising in encouraging your baby's communication! Babies use all kinds of signs and gestures as a natural part of learning to talk. Encouraging your baby with extra signs like milk, more, change nappy or tired will help your baby communicate. Baby signing with Sing and Sign is easy because we make it fun to learn! Your baby will recognise important words sooner and can use the signs to “talk” to you before speech.

12 - 12.15pm: Meg's Childrens Choir

Through singing, games, performance and recording opportunities, the choir is somewhere kids can have fun, grow in confidence, improve their speech, memory, coordination and their ability to work together. The choir will be singing a mixture of contemporary pop, rock, soul and music from around the world.

12.30 - 1.30pm: Ruckus Rave
Kids love to rave too! Why should adults hog all the glow sticks, UV face paint, bubbles, whistles and sick beats? It's time to readdress the balance in this 1 hour rager where the kids teach the adults a thing or two about raving!

1.30 - 1.45pm Social Singing Choir
The Social Singing Choir is not your average choir and their aim is simple: to sing great music with a relaxed and fun approach. No auditions, no need for previous experience. The whole idea of the S.S.C is to sing some great songs together and have a good time. Open to everyone in Thanet to join. Most recently they have been rehearsing Haim songs in the hope that the band will invite them to open their Dreamland show! And why not?! They opened for POW’s Self Esteem gig! Come and watch this brilliant choir perform some sing-along songs at POW in the Park.

2 - 2.30pm: Arts Education Exchange
Arts Education Exchange is a charity based in Margate that provides creative education, training, and employment for young people.
Performing at POW in the Park are some of their young musicians who, through AEE’s programme, are developing their practice and gaining experience in performing in professional environments across Thanet.

2.30 - 3pm: Morag Butler

Morag Butler runs Rosslyn Court, our nearest Folk venue in Margate and is known for singing thoughtful, humorous -and sometimes risqué- songs as well as the traditional and contemporary folk. She was described recently as a “Margate legend”.

3 - 4pm: Tootles & Nibs

4 - 4.05pm: POW! The Woman's Runway

This is the festival fashion show where YOU are the model! Show off your personal look and share your story by walking the runway in your own favourite outfit. This is a celebration of real women, real fashion, and real empowerment.

Sign up on the day of the festival.Registration is open and easy, just come by to the main stand and sign up.

Orientation will take place from 2:00 PM (at the Village Green), where we’ll guide you through the runway walk and share all the details you need to shine. The show kicks off at 5:00 PM at the bandstand (mainstage). So get ready to own the POW runway and inspire the crowd!

All ages, styles, and backgrounds are welcome. Bring your confidence, creativity, and your favourite outfit, and let’s celebrate the power of women together.

4.05 - 5pm: (Red) Egg Riding Hood

What happened to Red? Reeling after her run in with a wolf, Red sets up an agency to tackle all the injustices of the forest. Recruiting the gun-ho woodcutter who swears he saved her life, Red explores the environment, human meddling, and how to be taken seriously by all who doubt her. This folk-tale-on-its-head is told by our two storytellers Rachael and Cam, who bring important themes wrapped in laughter, puppets, and live music!
