Advanced Skills in Treating Complicated Grief
Advanced Skills in Treating Complicated Grief
Share this event
Supporting clients suffering from the effects of complicated grief demands an empathetic, compassionate yet focused perspective by the counsellor. But what specific skills are required in complex cases of grief, bereavement and loss?
This workshop will help delegates understand the more complex processes in grieving and help them support clients through that process - with an emphasis on clients who suffer particularly extended, complicated and debilitating grief.
Different models of the complex grieving processes will be examined and their implications for support and treatment.
This workshop is the next step for those delegates who have already attended Treating Complicated Grief, Bereavement and Loss. However, counsellors who have experience of working in this area are welcome. The workshop will look in more depth at specific advanced concepts covered briefly in that session as well as exploring new topics. Recent research in this area, and the clinical implications for clinicians will be examined.
A key focus will be on Complicated Grief Therapy, a new protocol for treating intense grief by Alana Iglewicz at the University of California and her colleagues .
What will the workshop cover? (Indicative)
- Recap - 'Uncomplicated' Bereavement and 'Complicated' Bereavement and 'Prolonged grief disorder'
