In Chinese culture, we often find ourselves somehow related. Aunty this, uncle that, grandma this, brother that. It often confuses foreigners because most of the time you're not even related by blood.

Yet, it is this practice that makes us understand and build tight community. This often bleeds into our scenes in Asia, where we see many scenes weaving a tapestry of relationships into the stories we tell.

In this workshop, we will focus on why relationships matter in the scene and how to dive deep quick into the meat of a relationship to make your audience feel a sense of kindred spirits. Through a blend of Chinese theatre exercises and improv exercises, we will work through drawing the guan xi between us and our characters and between the characters and the world created.

A scenework workshop focusing on longevity in our scenes.

We'll focus on finding anchors in our scenework to help us dive deeper into character point of view and build characters with texture, that we can explore and play with for longer scenes. We'll focus on yes, and-ing our own choices, and delving deeper and finding the beauty in even the "smaller" details and choices we make in our scenes
