Inspired by the life and work of Michele (Cote) Bassett, in 2019 her 3 sisters founded the non-profit Prevent-Heal-Thrive. The good news is due to medical advances people are living longer with cancer . The bad news is there is limited awareness of service options available to meet emotional, physical, mental and financial needs of the individual. Long term side effects such as physical pain and dysfunction from chemo, radiation and surgery decrease quality of life. Prevent-Heal-Thrive fills that gap. We provide resources for affordable, evidence-based complementary cancer prevention, care and aftercare in conjunction with conventional medical treatment in Southeastern Connecticut. We assist participants in finding vetted (licensed when required) practitioners. We also advocate for adjunct services within the hospital system. Financial supplementation is offered for that which insurance doesn't cover.
