The FIRST LEGO League is a yearly competition in which young people form a team, build a LEGO robot to complete challenges over the course of weekly sessions, and finally compete against other teams on tournament day in February. It's the perfect way to learn more about STEM and design, practice important skills like teamwork and public speaking, and above all have a good time with friends working on a project together. This year's theme, SUBMERGED, promises to take us to the depths of the oceans!

At Prewired, we are excited to be facilitating two teams this school year. We'll be participating in the Challenge category and are open for participants aged 10-14, with sessions running parallel to our regular Prewired evenings, each Wednesday from 17:30-19:30.

If that sounds like something you might want to join, come along to this Taster Session! At this event, you'll have a chance to try our new robot kits, meet other potential participants, and get information about how to sign up for one of our teams. Whether you're already a Prewired regular or have never done any programming or robot-building before, all are welcome to join.

Like all other Prewired activities, participation in a Prewired FIRST LEGO League team is completely free of charge.

Location

The entrance to CodeBase is on 37a Castle Terrace - come in to reception and go straight into the hotdesking space. You sign in at the Prewired registration desk.

If you're late or the doors are closed for any reason, no worries! There's a bell to the left of the doors that will alert the mentors inside.

Food and drink

Please make sure you've had your dinner or a snack before you come if you usually eat around this time, as we don't allow eating or drinking near the computers and robots. We will have a brief break in the middle of the session where we'll provide some snacks.

Parents

All parents/guardians are welcome to join as this information session will give valuable information on how the programme will be run.

If your child is under the age of 11, you are required to attend sessions with them to comply with our Child Safety Procedures. If your child is 11 years old or older, is is up to you whether you'd like to accompany them.

If you do plan to attend as a parent, please book a ticket for yourself as well as your child so that we can keep track of numbers.

Cancellations

If you sign up but realise you can't make it, or if you accidentally book extra spaces for any reason, please make sure to cancel your ticket so the spot can be released to someone else.
