Come and drum! πŸͺ˜πŸͺ˜πŸͺ˜

MoseleyDrum is a friendly community of drummers who meet fortnightly to play, learn, create and have a lot of fun together.

Led by Sarah Westwood, sessions combine West African rhythms, technique, creative and freestyle drumming, mindful playing and plenty of opportunities to explore your own musical expression.

We also have a growing collection of group pieces and arrangements that we learn and develop together – building different rhythm parts, calls, breaks and dynamics into music we can really get our teeth into. And occasionally, when the opportunity arises, we take them out into the world and play as a community band!

There’s a lovely mixture of learning and freedom – developing your drumming skills while experiencing the sheer joy, energy and connection of making music with other people.

And we laugh. Quite a lot. πŸ˜„

πŸͺ˜ TWO SESSIONS

Main Session – Beginners & Improvers
A supportive session for building skills and confidence, learning rhythms and joining in with our group pieces. Newer players are very welcome – I adapt parts so people can join in at different levels while more experienced players continue to be challenged.

Advanced Session – Experienced Drummers
For confident players ready for more complex rhythms, arrangements, improvisation and ensemble playing.

Experienced drummers are welcome to come to both sessions.

🎢 WHAT WE EXPLORE

  • West African rhythms, calls & breaks
  • Group pieces & arrangements
  • Creative freestyle & improvisation

Drumming is a brilliant workout for the brain and body – absorbing enough to quieten all the mental chatter, energising enough to lift your mood, and enormously satisfying when all those individual rhythms suddenly lock together.
