Romeo đź’ś Juliette: An Immersive Opera Experience
Multiple dates and times
Christ Church Neighborhood House, 19106
Description
Two of Philly’s star nightlife performers fall in love-at-first sight (awww), but they’re from rival clubs (gasp!)... What could go wrong?
Step into a fictional Philly nightlife, where Club Capulet currently leads the scene thanks to the success of its star, the gender-bending draglesque performer, Juliette. Curious to see what the fuss is all about, performers from a rival club, Montague’s, sneak into a show at Club Capulet.
Montague’s star, Romeo, is expecting to have a drink, throw some shade, and maybe steal an idea or two… only to have his heart stolen instead…
If you’ve ever seen Shakespeare’s classic play, you know what (probably) comes next… but you’ve likely never experienced it like this!
Audience members will be encouraged to take part in the storytelling via a dance party, a runway contest, and more.
Combining burlesque, drag arts, immersive theater, and some of Philly’s finest operatic performers, Prismatic Arts Ensemble is bringing a unique twist to Gounod’s famous operatic setting of Romeo and Juliet that you won't want to miss!
Roméo et Juliette will be sung in French with a new translation projected in English.
Semi-staged production, with piano accompaniment and immersive elements.
