Join us for a relaxing day of natural dyeing at Production Mode!

Master dyer Amy Taylor will be leading a small group (10 ppl max) through the basics of shibori and natural dyeing.

Participants will be provided with their choice of a Production Mode silk charmeuse scarf, silk charmeuse shirt, or organic cotton t-shirt blank (all ethically made in Chicago!) to dye in either cutch (acacia catechu), which produces a cinnamon brown color, or logwood (haematoxylon campechianum), which imparts a rich purple.

Amy will demonstrate how to bind our shirt and scarf blanks in order to achieve a lovely mermaid scale design.

This workshop is intended to be fun and relaxing, while introducing you to the art of shibori and natural dyeing. Come out for an enjoyable day learning new skills AND leaving with a lovely handmade shirt or scarf hand dyed by you to keep or gift to a loved one! Drinks (cocktails & NA options) and light snacks will be provided.

-Note: Every dye bath is different, as many factors influence the color results (i.e. the fabric, the water, growing season of dye material). Colors shown here are approximations of what students can expect, not 1:1 guarantees- that's part of the fun and magic of natural dyeing!

-All sales are final.
