Natural Indigo Dye & Shibori Workshop: Bring Your Own Garment
Sat Apr 27, 2024 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Production Mode, 60613
Description
Join us for a day of natural dyeing at Production Mode!
Master dyer Amy Taylor will be leading a small group (8 ppl max) through the basics of shibori and natural dyeing.
*Participants will bring their own garment to be dyed--a shirt, hat, scarf, or pair of socks made primarily of natural fibers. Please do NOT bring other types of garments (bigger, heavier garments like jackets and pants will exhaust the dye bath, and garments made of synthetic fibers cannot be naturally dyed).
Amy will demonstrate different methods to dye your garments using shibori techniques and natural indigo dye.
This workshop is intended to be fun and relaxing, while introducing you to the art of shibori and natural dyeing. Come out to learn new skills AND leave with a renewed and refreshed garment, hand dyed by you! Drinks (cocktails & NA options) and light snacks will be provided.
We'll be hosting a trunk show by All We Remember that day as well--come early or stay afterwards to meet AWR designer Jacob Victorine, shop their line, and meet other natural dye and slow fashion friends!
DETAILS:
-Workshop is open to all levels.
-Dress for mess - we will be working near dyes. Gloves are not needed, however.
-Please make sure your item is pre-washed. Unfortunately unwashed garments cannot be added to these dye vats- even new garments must be pre-washed in order to take the dye successfully.
-Cost is $75
-Below are examples of shibori and indigo dyed garments to give you some ideas!

-All sales are final.
